Enhanced skills programs

The 2027 Family Medicine/Enhanced Skills Match (FM/ES), for residents who finish or have finished family medicine training in Canada, often called the “+1”. CaRMS describes it as for “applicants who are completing or have completed postgraduate training in Family Medicine in Canada and want to pursue enhanced skills training”.

Only the programs in CaRMS’s FM/ES match are here: emergency medicine, palliative care, care of the elderly, sport and exercise medicine, addiction medicine, family practice anesthesia, and the enhanced and obstetrical surgical skills programs. Schools also run enhanced skills training that you apply for at the school instead: 82 offerings, such as low-risk obstetrics, hospital medicine and clinician scholar programs, on their own list, enhanced skills outside the CaRMS match.
